Book Review: “The Invention of Murder” by Judith Flanders

Her first story is about two separate attacks in which, seven people including a baby were stabbed to death. John Williams was arrested by authorities but he committed suicide before his trial. But nobody felt any guilt or doubt for him and his body was hammered through the heart before throwing him into a grave.
She wrote about a murder which enlightens how murder has its complex relationship with British society. There is also mention about the first Detective Department created in 1842 to investigate the more important murder cases. How forensic science improved and developed techniques to catch the killer and make the investigation easier. How people started using poisons to kill people. How train and telegrams came and the society became more mobile. She wrote all the stories and showed us familiar sights from unpredicted angles.
She also wrote about murders in fiction and how murder became the subject of novels and stories from a very nice angle. She described the murders of Jack the Ripper and how he murdered his female victims, and also about how Charles Dickens wrote about murder in his book.
